![]() ![]() ![]() Header/Footer Settings Recap, Page Numbers in Word 97-2003 My page for menu-based Word may be more helpful with the Mac which retains the menus for many things that recent Windows versions have discarded. Where numbering restarts with such a field, you need to go into the Format Page Numbers dialog and tell Word you want continuous numbering. If you go into each of the headers and simply press Shift+Opt+P you will insert a Page field. The controls you mention deal with headers, not specifically with page numbers. The numbering, though, should be continuous unless you told Word to restart the numbers. It sort of sounds as if you are using all three and potentially have a section break before page four. The page number and other information in each of these headers is separate. The thing is, each section in Word has three headers (which you may or may not display or use). These numbers will be different, sequential, unless you tell Word to do something else. If you insert a page number in the header on the first page, your document will have page numbers on each page using that header. ![]()
